Dusty Santamaria + Moira Ichiban
Avant-garage two piece band whose live performances have been compared to The Cramps and The Velvet Underground
Songwriter, poet Dusty Santamaria met multidisciplinary artist Moira Ichiban on a full moon night in Portland, Oregon. They quickly fell in love, bowed out of their urban lifestyles, and ran away to form an art focused rock n roll band in the Southern California desert.
Together, the two delve deep into recesses of the rock n roll psyche, drawing influence from mid-century R&B, gospel, doo-wop, country and punk to create minimalist dream songs ablaze with shouts, shudders and symbolism. Primitive drum beats and swamp-water guitars serve as a backdrop for vivid, impressionistic lyrics.
The duo have cut their teeth with DIY tours up and down the West Coast and as far east as New Orleans. They released their debut album, Love Under Will, on their own Voodoo It Yourself label.
